The Music Room at Potato Head Hong Kong was one of the city's serious early listening-room projects: a hidden, wood-lined space inside the Sai Ying Pun Potato Head, built around a large vinyl library and a proper analogue system. The room held more than 8,000 records and was designed for listening sessions, selector nights, and private events rather than background music for dinner. The system reportedly included JBL Pro Blue series loudspeakers, McIntosh tube preamps and amplifiers, a custom Japanese rotary mixer, vintage Klipschorn speakers, and Technics SL-1200 turntables. It was a compact, intentional room rather than a general bar with records nearby. The important caveat is status: Potato Head Hong Kong is no longer operating, and the same site has since become Melody, whose Music Room appears to be the active successor.
