Nightbird Hi-Fidelity is the listening-room side of Godby Hotel, tucked inside the South Yarra pub rather than standing alone as a separate street-front bar. That matters: it gives the venue some pub energy around the edges, while the Nightbird room itself is aimed at late-night music and serious playback. The public gear notes are stronger than most new openings: Allen & Heath Xone:96 mixer, Martin Audio CDD15 loudspeakers and dual SX215 subwoofers. That is closer to a properly specified small club system than a decorative hi-fi gesture. Go for DJs, drinks and a compact high-output room.
