FONO HiFi Lounge

FONO is a hi-fi bar and event space in Centretown, Ottawa, inside a renovated 1925 building on Bronson Avenue. The front room is the Hi-Fi Lounge: low lighting, cocktails, natural wine, snacks, vinyl, DJs and a bar setup built around listening rather than screens. The sound system uses hardwood speakers from Automatic Audio, placed around the room with DJ gear behind the bar. The exact turntables, mixer and amplification are not publicly specified, but the room is set up for controlled listening at social volume. Ottawa Citizen noted that conversation is possible while music is playing, which is a useful signal for the kind of experience FONO is aiming for. FONO also has a separate Ballroom for concerts, DJ nights, listening parties and community events.
